What do you hope your work says about your company?
I hope my work reflects the heart of a company that values growth, adaptability, and the strength of its people. In an industry traditionally dominated by men, I’ve built a fulfilling career by bringing my best every day and staying focused on what our company needs to thrive. I firmly believe that a woman doesn’t need to be “one of the guys” to be accepted or effective in our industry. You simply need to be the best and most authentic version of yourself, and I’m proud that my path here at DBK mirrors our industry’s evolution, standing as an example that women can build lasting, impactful careers in construction – in the field, in support roles, and in leadership.
What I hope, above all, is that my experience helps open doors for more women to step confidently into this field - not by conforming, but by leading with their own strengths.
How does your team contribute to your success?
I've been incredibly fortunate to work alongside intelligent, principled leaders throughout my career - people who have led by example and created space for me and others to grow. Our success as a company has never been the result of one person or one role - it’s always been the outcome of a collective effort, including those who are coordinating, planning, and solving problems quietly, effectively, and efficiently in the background. I know firsthand how important that work is, and I take great pride in having been part of that engine room.
I’ve also had the privilege of growing alongside my company through immense industry changes. From typewriters and fax machines to the digital transformation that now drives our workflows, I’ve witnessed how resilience, curiosity, and an indelible willingness to learn can turn support roles into strategic assets. Every function contributes to the bigger picture. We all learn from each other, and I hope my own journey demonstrates the value of every role, and the power of true collaboration.
What does success look like to you?
For me, success is about growth, impact, and integrity. It’s about making a lasting contribution, being someone who others can count on, and helping build a culture that lifts everyone up. It’s also knowing that I’ve evolved with my company over time, helped us remain impactful in a changing industry, and worked hard to create an environment where people feel supported and valued.
In construction, success is often measured by what gets built. But it takes all of us - field and office, frontlines and behind the scenes - to build something great, and I’m proud to be part of that team effort.
If I can look back and know that I’ve helped others grow, made a positive difference, and stayed true to who I am, then that’s success in my eyes.
How has ABC First Coast helped you grow as a leader?
Serving on the Board for six years - including the honor of serving as Board Chair - was an invaluable opportunity for me to grow both professionally and personally. It allowed me to step outside the day-to-day of my company and contribute to the industry at large, gaining broader insight into the challenges and opportunities we all face.
That experience deepened my leadership skills, sharpened my ability to collaborate across diverse perspectives, and gave me the confidence to use my voice in new and meaningful ways. It was truly a pivotal chapter in my growth as a leader, and I’m grateful for the trust and support that made it possible.
What’s been your favorite part of being a member?
Without a doubt, my favorite part has been the long-lasting friendships and relationships I’ve built over the years. This organization has connected me with people I can truly rely on—whether for advice, support, or to share ideas and experiences.
It’s been about so much more than just serving the industry. It’s about the strength we offer one another, the trust we’ve built, and the sense of community that continues to grow. Those relationships have been one of the most meaningful parts of my experience with ABC.
What advice would you give to a company considering joining ABC First Coast?
Joining isn’t just about networking, though the relationships you’ll build are incredibly valuable. It’s also about recognizing and supporting the work being done on our behalf, especially at the legislative level. ABC National is tirelessly advocating for our Industry - fighting for policies that protect our businesses, our workforce, and our future.
Whether you're a member or not, you’re benefiting from that work. So, in my view, it’s not just a smart business move - it’s a responsibility. Supporting the organization that supports us is one of the best investments we can make in the future of construction.
