How has your company grown or evolved over the years?
Holman, Inc. has transformed from a modest subcontractor into a multimillion-dollar business specializing in Divisions 8 and 10. Over more than 20 years, we’ve built a reputation for quality, integrity, and innovation. Our growth has been both organic and strategic — adding Division 8 Doors in 2021, investing in advanced software tools, and increasing our bonding capacity to support larger projects. We've also enhanced our internal operations through leadership development, streamlined scheduling, and by fostering a strong, values-driven culture. Our revenue doubled from $5.7M in 2021 to nearly $11M projected for 2025, reflecting not only market alignment but also our focus on excellence and people.
What does “leaving your mark” on the built environment mean to you?
To me, leaving our mark on the built environment goes beyond the physical spaces we help construct. It means building with purpose, integrity, and care — not only in the quality of our work, but in the way we touch lives along the way. Every project we complete is a reflection of the dedication, skill, and pride of our team. But more importantly, it's a chance to positively impact the people involved — our employees, trade partners, clients, and the community.
It means that our installers grow in confidence and skill, our project managers develop into leaders, and our clients feel genuinely supported. The spaces we help create serve schools, hospitals, businesses — places that matter. When we say we’re “leaving our mark,” we mean that the worksite, the end-user, and every person along the way is better because we were there — and because we care.
What’s the most valuable lesson you've learned as a business owner?
People are everything. Investing in your team — in their development, well-being, and sense of purpose — is the best business decision you can make. I’ve learned that leadership requires humility, adaptability, and a deep understanding that your business is only as strong as the people who power it. Another lesson: consistency matters more than intensity. Small, intentional improvements over time yield the greatest results.
How has ABC First Coast helped you grow as a leader?
ABC First Coast has played a key role in my growth as a leader by providing high-quality development opportunities tailored to our industry. I completed the Business Essentials for Construction Leaders program, which was modeled on an executive MBA curriculum and condensed into a focused 10-week experience. It helped sharpen my understanding of financials, strategy, and leadership fundamentals — all through the lens of running a construction business. Serving on the Board of Directors and as Chair of the Safety Committee has also given me opportunities to lead, collaborate, and contribute to industry-wide improvements.
How has ABC First Coast helped you and your employees build meaningful relationships through networking, mentorship, or collaboration?
ABC First Coast has created countless opportunities for our team to connect with others in the industry in meaningful ways. We’ve built strong relationships through continuing education, Women’s Council events, political advocacy, and the Excellence in Construction Awards. Every December, we’re honored to partner with the Women’s Council to donate gifts to the Child Guidance Center — a tradition that reminds us how impactful our network can be beyond just business. These connections have fostered collaboration, opened the door to shared resources, and built lasting friendships that continue to enrich our culture and expand our presence in the industry.
