How has your company grown or evolved over the years?
Joey - Since our founding in 1963, Allstate Steel has steadily evolved to meet the changing needs of our industry and our employees. What began as a single-bay fabrication shop has grown into a nearly 200,000-square-foot facility equipped with cutting-edge technology, efficiency-based programs, and rigorous safety standards. This transformation enables us to deliver fully turnkey structural and miscellaneous metals solutions for our clients—on time and on budget—while ensuring our team members benefit from a best-in-class working environment.
What do you hope your work says about your company?
Eddy - I hope the work we do reflects that we truly value relationships, our employees, and the quality we deliver. We always want our projects to speak for themselves and show that we care about doing things the right way!
What project are you most proud of, and why?
Eddy - It’s not really the type of project that makes me proud. What truly matters and what really makes me proud—is working on projects based here in Jacksonville, Florida. When I drive around my hometown with family and friends and recognize the projects we helped build, that connection to the community means everything.
What does success look like to you?
Joey - To me, success begins with empowering our employees through comprehensive benefits, a supportive work environment, and engaging day-to-day responsibilities. When our people thrive, they deliver the kind of top-tier service our clients have come to expect on structural and miscellaneous metals projects. Ultimately, building long-term, trust-based relationships with both our clients and employees is the clearest indicator of our success.
How does your team contribute to your success?
Eddy - My team plays a huge role in our company’s success. Every project depends on their skill, dedication, and teamwork. They show up with integrity, take pride in their work, and support each other to get the job done right. It’s that level of commitment and care that drives our quality, strengthens client relationships, and helps us grow as a company.
Where do you see your business headed in the next few years?
Joey - Looking ahead, Allstate Steel is committed to continued investment in our people, facility, and operational processes. Our goal is to deliver exceptional service on every project—regardless of size, complexity, or location. As we grow, we are equally focused on fostering a workplace culture where our employees are continually challenged, motivated, and fulfilled in their work.
What advice would you give to a company considering joining ABC First Coast?
Eddy - ABC offers a great opportunity for companies to build strong relationships with both contractors and subcontractors. It’s not just about finding new jobs; it’s about creating partnerships built on trust, reliability, and shared standards. Being part of a network like this helps companies stay informed, grow their reputation in the local industry and community, and surround themselves with people who value quality and professionalism.
How has ABC First Coast helped you and your employees build meaningful relationships through networking, mentorship, or collaboration?
Eddy - ABC has been a great resource for our employees, giving them opportunities to connect with others in the industry through networking events and activities. It has helped them build confidence, gain new perspectives, and strengthen professional relationships that support their growth. Being part of this network not only helps develop their skills but also reinforces a sense of pride and purpose in the work they do every day.
Why is ABC’s merit philosophy important to your company culture?
Joey - ABC’s merit philosophy is directly in line with Allstate Steel’s philosophy on labor. We believe only the most qualified person should be selected for a job. We actively encourage and remind employees that positions are earned based on their craftsmanship, qualifications, skills, and performance, rather than union membership or other irrelevant factors. We believe this creates the most fair, competitive, and rewarding workplace environment. This philosophy also carries over to our subcontractors ensuring the most qualified is always the selected for a project.
